The oldest Hungarian language book about Semmelweis was published in 1885 and is held in the museum collection of the Central Library. Its author is Jakab Bruck (1845-1902), a doctor and science writer, who was a colleague of Semmelweis in Rókus Hospital. He heartily agreed with Semmelweis and suggested taking even stricter precautions pointing out that his successors lacked the rigour in executing the established safety procedures.
