This guide helps you to set up VPN connection.
1. First of all, you should log in to our web portal with your Neptun ID. You can do it by clicking Login button at the top, or directly from this link: https://lib.semmelweis.hu/user
You should use your Neptun ID as username, and your password used in Neptun system.
2. After you have successfully logged in to our portal, you should check if your Neptun ID is registered for our EduApp system. To check it, start EduApp, by clicking menu at the top "Services / Education App", or using the direct link:
https://lib.semmelweis.hu/eduApp
If you are not logged in, it will show: "Please log in with your Neptun ID to use this application"
If you are logged in with your Neptun ID, you will see a link for this course (AOVKPK088_1A), please click on it, and you will get the 4 points.
If you get an error message against the link, your Neptun ID is not registered by us. (It happens if you are registered late in Neptun system). Please contact us (and write your Neptun ID)
3. So now you can use our EduApp, it is time to configure VPN access.
3. a) First, you should get VPN acceess, click the "Services/ VPN access for students" menu or the direct link is: https://lib.semmelweis.hu/studentvpn
Click "Register" tab. If you have not registered yet, you will see a "Register" button (click on it), otherwise you should see your VPN access details. You will need the VPN server address, user name, password fields, and also pre-shared key if you are using L2TP/IPSec (usually if you are using Apple Mac / Iphone, etc.)
3. b) Ok, now you have VPN access, you should configure and start it. Configuration is depending on the device you are using, we have guides for different OSs (Windows, Apple Mac, Linux) at here: VPN guide
but setting up VPN access is a not a unique thing, so you can google it. For this you should know that we have two VPN servers:
- PPTP (for Android, Windows): VPN server address is: 193.6.208.38
- L2TP/ IPSEC with pre-shared key (for MAC, Iphone, but should work with Windows also): VPN server address is: 193.6.208.35
So if you have Iphone / Apple tablet or notebook, you should google: "How to set up L2TP/IPSEC VPN on xxx" Where xxx is the name of your device. Of course you have to use our VPN server address, and your account data explained in 3 a)
3. c) After setup completed, you have to connect VPN, and if it is connected succesfully, you should go to eduApp (https://lib.semmelweis.hu/eduApp), and click to the module link. At the top you can see your IP address: IP:a.b.c.d
If your IP is one of our VPN address (listed in 3.b)), you will get the 9 points. Please note that it remains 9 points even if you visit our page without VPN connection.
If your IP is not one of our VPN address (listed in 3.b)), you are not connected to the VPN, please start connection.
If you have connected successfully, but your IP still not our VPN address, you should check advanced VPN settings of your device. Please look for "Send all traffic over VPN connection" option in your device (and check it please).
If you getting an error during VPN connection, you should check/do the followings:
- check your username and password are the same as in the registration page (Capital / small letters)
- check your firewall, antivirus software if it blocks the VPN
- if you are using Windows/Android you can also try the L2TP/IPSEC VPN server
- try to use an other network. (Sometimes your internet provider (eg. in colleges, hospitals, etc.) prevents to use VPN)
