Central support for Open Access publishingAdd to favorites
Error

The Central Library of Semmelweis University support the Open Access publishing of articles that’s authors (researchers, PhD students) has affiliation with Semmelweis University.

 

Please note the following general rules:

- It is quite important to use the correct English name version of the institution, it is not enough to give Semmelweis University alone as affiliation, Department and institution should also be named.

- Please submit your manuscript from IP range of Semmelweis University or by using VPN connection. This helps the publisher to identify your article as one that entitled to get central support from us.

- Please claim your central support during the submission process by selecting the University from the drop-down menu in case of Frontiers, PLOS and SpringerLink publishers’ article submission forms.

 

 

Attention!
The percentage of the central support has changed in case of PLOS; those articles that were submitted July 2018 or afterwards now entitled to get 50% central support.

 

From 3rd December 2018 it became available to get 100% central support for articles submitted to Hindawi publisher’s journals.

 

From January 2019 it became available to get 100% central support for articles submitted to Springer publisher’s hybrid journals.

 

From Janurary 2019 it became available to get 100% central support for articles submitted to any journals of Akadémiai Kiadó, so not just in case of Orvosi Hetilap journal.

 

From January 2019 it became available to get 100% central support for articles submitted to Wiley-Blackwell publisher’s hybrid and gold open access journals. 

 

From 1st January 2019 the affiliation criteria have changed in case of BMC, SpringerOpen, PLOS, Frontiers to the followings: At least 2 of the following 3 authors: first, last, corresponding, should give Semmelweis University as affiliation on the manuscript (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

 

 

 

1. BioMed Central and SpringerOpen

The percentage of the central support: 100%

 
Conditions of central support:

- On the manuscript at least 2 of the following 3 authors: first, last, corresponding, should give Semmelweis University as affiliation (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

- The article has to be either original article / review / longer case report.

- The chosen journal has to have Q1 ranking at least in one category regarding to SciMago Journal Rank (http://www.scimagojr.com/) from 1st September 2016.

- The corresponding author should submit the manuscript from IP range of Semmelweis University and use her/his university e-mail address to help the publisher identify the article as one that is entitled to get the central support.

2. Akadémiai Kiadó: Orvosi Hetilap

 

The percentage of the central support: 100%

 

Since 2009 articles of the Semmelweis University that are submitted to Orvosi Hetilap will get published as gold open access articles, due to our special agreement with the publisher.

Since 2019 every article that's correcponding author is affiliated with Semmelweis University will get published as gold open access artilce regardless to the journal. So due to the consortium agreement the support became available for every journal of the publisher and not only just in case of Orvosi Hetilap.

 

 

3. Public Library of Science (PLoS)

 

The percentage of the central support: 50%
(Only those articles entitled to get 50% central support that were submitted July 2018 or afterwards. Those articles that were submitted before only entitled to get 20% support.

The total article processing charges (APC) of the PLoS journals can be found at the publishers website, the 50% will be counted from these.

 

Since 2017 researchers of Semmelweis University can have partial central support to their artilces submitted to one of the 7, high quality (Q1 rank) journals of PLoS:

- PLOS Biology - ISSN: 1544-9173

- PLOS Computational Biology - ISSN: 1553-7358

- PLOS Genetics - ISSN: 1553-7390

- PLOS Medicine - ISSN: 1549-1277

- PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases - ISSN: 1935-2727

- PLOS ONE - elSSN: 1932-6203

- PLOS Pathogens - ISSN: 1553-7366

 

Conditions of central support:

- On the manuscript at least 2 of the following 3 authors: first, last, corresponding, should give Semmelweis University as affiliation (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

- Please claim your central support during the submission process by selecting the Semmelweis University from the drop-down menu on the article submission form.

 

 

4. Frontiers Media SA

 

The percentage of the central support: 50%
(The total article processing charges (APC) of the Frontiers journals can be found at the publishers website, from this the Semmelweis University is entitled to get 5% discount. From this discounted price will be the 50% central support counted.)

 

Since 2018 researchers of Semmelweis University can have partial central support to their artilces submitted to the high quality (Q1 rank) journals of Frontiers.

 

 

Conditions of central support:

- On the manuscript at least 2 of the following 3 authors: first, last, corresponding, should give Semmelweis University as affiliation (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

- The chosen journal has to have Q1 ranking at least in one category regarding to SciMago Journal Rank (http://www.scimagojr.com/).

- Please claim your central support during the submission process by selecting the Semmelweis University from the drop-down menu on the article submission form.

 

 

5. Hindawi Ltd.

 

The percentage of the central support: 100%

 

From 3rd December 2018 it became available to get 100% central support for articles submitted to Hindawi publisher’s journals.

 

Conditions of central support:

- On the manuscript at least 2 of the following 3 authors: first, last, corresponding, should give Semmelweis University as affiliation (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

- The chosen journal has to have Q1 ranking at least in one category regarding to SciMago Journal Rank (http://www.scimagojr.com/).

- The corresponding author should submit the manuscript from IP range of Semmelweis University and use her/his university e-mail address to help the publisher identify the article as one that is entitled to get the central support.

 

 

6. SpringerLink (hybrid journals)

 

The percentage of the central support: 100%

 

From January 2019 it became available for researchers of Semmelweis University to publish gold open access articles into Springer publisher’s hybrid journals (only into those that are offering Open Choise option), due to the university is member of EISZ national consortium.

 

Conditions of central support:

- On the manuscript the corresponding author should give Semmelweis University as affiliation (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

- The article has to be either Original Paper / Review Paper / Brief Communication / Continuing Education article.

- The corresponding author should submit the manuscript from IP range of Semmelweis University and use her/his university e-mail address to help the publisher identify the article as one that is entitled to get the central support.

 

Please note, that other services ordered during the submission process – for instance color-fee – will not get covered by the central fund.

 

 

 

7. Wiley-Blackwell (hybrid and gold open access journals)

 

The percentage of the central support: 100%

 

From January 2019 it became available for researchers of Semmelweis University to publish gold open access articles into Wiley-Blackwell publisher’s hybrid journals (only into those that are offering OnlineOpen option) and gold open access journals, due to the university is member of EISZ national consortium.

 

Conditions of central support:

- On the manuscript the corresponding author should give Semmelweis University as affiliation (in case of an author has more workplaces, then Semmelweis University has to be on the first place given).

- The article has to be either Original Paper / Review Paper.

- The corresponding author should submit the manuscript from IP range of Semmelweis University and use her/his university e-mail address, and please also choose from the drop-down menu the university, to help the publisher identify the article as one that is entitled to get the central support.

 

Please note, that other services ordered during the submission process – for instance color-fee – will not get covered by the central fund.

In case you may not find the publisher to which journals you would like to submit your article, please note that there is an option to make publically available your manuscripts one version (preprint / postprint / publisher’s version) in the institutional repository.

 

This is the green open access route, and the Central Library offers this one as well. There is a possibility to submit your manuscript into the Repository of Semmelweis University through MTMT database.
