    • The Central Library is available to alimited number of visitors (maximum 197 people at a time) in accordance with the followings:

    • for Semmelweis University citizens: non-stop
    • for outsiders: on workdays 08:00 – 20:00

    Loaning and returning of books are only available during service hours.

    Monday: 9 AM-4 PM
    Tuesday: 9 AM-6 PM (between 4PM- and 6PM photocopy, poster printing services are not available)
    Wednesday: 9 AM-4 PM
    Thursday:9 AM-4 PM
    Friday:9 AM-2 PM

    Upon entry, you are required to present personal identification or student ID.

    In the library there is a card reservation system:

    Access to the library is only possiblewith virtual library card. The card can be generated by clicking on the library card button on the library's website https://lib.semmelweis.hu/konyvtari_kartya
    The virtual card must be scanned by the guard at all times (on arrival and departure). Upon entry, all readers receive 1 reservation cards, which must be surrendered upon departure.
    When temporarily leaving (50 minutes + 10 minutes grace period) the library and returning, the virtual library card should be validated at the reception. In the case of an absence of more than one hour, a warning will be sent to the e-mail address provided at registration and will expire after one year. After 2 active warnings, the reader will be banned from the library for 2 weeks for each subsequent timeout.

    Documentation required for your entry:

    In the case of Semmelweis University students one item from the list below:

    • virtual library card
    • valid Semmelweis University student ID ,
    • valid proof of legal relationship with Semmelweis University, with photo ID, passport or drivers license,
    • present via Neptun system (you are required to log in to Neptun and prove that your registration for the semester is live) with a valid photo ID, passport, or driver's license

    In the case of Semmelweis University employees:

    • virtual library card
    • valid employer ID and photo ID, passport, or driver's license
    • Semmelweis University photo ID

    In the case of outsiders:

    • virtual library card
    • valid photo ID

     

    Regulations in effect in the areas of the Library*:

    • The library user's numbers are restricted, the furnitures must remain in their original places.
    • The consumption of food and beverages is not allowed, except in the designated areas. (E.g.: first-floor common area „kitchen corner”, or the outdoor garden area)
    • the consumption of alcoholic beverages is forbidden.
    • It is forbidden to visit the library under the effects of alcohol or other mind-altering agents.
    • The airconditioning unit's controllers can only be used by the porters or the staff of the library.
    • Smoking is forbidden in the entire area of the library!

    In accordance with the Universities energy efficiency principles, based on visitor numbers after 10 PM, only the ground floor reading rooms and the first-floor computer room is available.

    • Can only be used by Semmelweis University Students or Staff with valid proof of legal relationship.
    • Semmelweis University Students or Staff, can visit the library every day of the week (even on bank holidays) non-stop.


    New readers registration, loaning, and photocopy service hours:

    Monday-Friday: 8 AM-8 PM

    *Regulations in effect in the areas of the Library apply to Basic Medical Science Center Library as well.
