In order to loan documents from the Central Library, you need to register (see: Registration)
You can search our library's collection through our Online Catalogue. You can also use MOKKA, which lets you search through the catalogues of all Hungarian librarias. Documents dated earlier than 1965 can be found in our card-index. The card-index is avaliable on request.

Loaning period: 1 month (with 2 renewals allowed).
Textbooks are only loanable for students of Semmelweis University.
Loaning can be renewed twice in person or email.
Non-university patrons can loan 3 volumes at a time.
Books from stores are available for loan in 5 workdays. (On demand)
Late fee: 100 HUF (item / workday)
Archive collections are only accessible in place, after making appointment to use them.
IT device loan
The Central Library offers a locally useable laptop loaning for Semmelweis University citizens. A person, be it a student or an employee, can only borrow 1 laptop at a time (upon request with charger and mouse). The devices can be rented at the reader's service desk during service hours, from Monday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
IT devices can only be used inside the building of Mikszáth Square, taking them out of the library area is strictly prohibited.
Required documents in order to borrow IT equipment(s):
- a valid Semmelweis University digital library card
- In the case of students:
o valid identity card and address card
o for foreign students: valid passport
- In the case of an employee:
o valid identity card, residential address card
When renting an IT device the following forms must be filled in and signed:
- Loan declaration (the borrower assumes responsibility for the borrowed device with their signature)
- Loan register sheet
During the loan of IT device(s), the borrower deposits their valid identity document (identity card or passport) at the reader's service librarian, at the same time assuming responsibility for the borrowed IT device(s).
